Periods 2, 3, 5 & 7 Final Exam!!

It has been a great semester in all of my classes. Third period you slipped there at the end, but no one could match your intensity earlier on in the semester. 5th period you held the title of my favorite class ever for most of the semester before having it taken from you by 2nd period just before the break. You came close to getting it back there at the end. 7th period was easily the hardest working class I have ever had and their results speak for them-selves.

For your final exam I want to know how I can be a better teacher. Please answer the following questions for your final blog.
1. What did you like most about the class?
2. What did you like least about the class?
3. How did you like the use of the blog in class?
4. What would you change to make your experience in physical education better?
5. Will you take a physical education class again?

Your response will have no implications for your final grade other than if you fail to do it, so please be honest as your responses help form what we do in the future. It has been a pleasure working with each of you this past semester. Stop in and say hi when your travels bring you by the gym.

Mr. Kirk

I liked the amount of sports we got to play and the amount of socialization that we could have. I didn't like the fact that the locker room was poorly secured. The blog is a good idea, and it was an easy was to do the homework. In order to make P.E. better, we should be able to choose the sports that we want to play, as shown by the very enjoyable badminton unit. I will probably take gym again.

1.I liked that we got to play a wide variety of sports, while at some points we got to choose a sport to focus on for a few weeks.
2.I did not like how many people's things got stolen from the locker room during class.
3.The blog was a good idea, but it was kind of easy to forget about.
4.Give students more choice on what sports to play.
5. Yes

1. I really liked most of the sports we did, especially badminton.
2. I didn't like not being able to choose our own teams most of the time, and I don't really like football.
3. The blog was pretty good, and I'd never done anything like it before.
4. I would learn more about the sports we're playing at the time.
5. I probably will not take another physical education class.

I liked how much stronger the workouts made me in just one semester. I didn't like how sore we were after a workout and that there was little discussion on what could be done to remedy or at least ease this problem. I liked the blog except when I missed one but it was a very ingenuous way to do the homework. I would change that we have some isolation work as well but compound exercises build great strength. I will definitely be taking another weightlifting class probably next year.

Helena H. PERIOD 2.
Eckhem. Period two is, by far, the best class. The world knows it. Whooooo. Anyhow.

1. THE HOCKEY UNIT. Even though my Detriot Lion Highstickers never got a win. Oh, and that we were allowed to socialize. Yeah. :)
2. Can the girls get better locker rooms? It's not safe to leave our backpacks and everything out. Why do guys get new lockers and we don't...?
3. It was a really easy and convenient way to do homework, and it can't arrive, like, crumbled or anything, since the sheet of paper is "virtual".
4. I would..... I don't know. I would... uhmmmm... let people pick the sports and teams. Oh, and I would allow iPods at all times. :D
5. Probably at some point, if not at school then, like, join a gym or something when I'm old. :D

Credit to Bryce for the few questions I had no idea what to say. But I really do agree with them. The locker rooms need to be changed! And yeah, we should always pick the sports.

Actually, I just thought about something.
Didn't we do this at, like, the beginning of the year?
You do a different sport every day. I like that kind of layout. Hockey on Mondays and Fridays. :)

Go Period 2! Whooo.

I liked the variety of different sports we played. I diden't like the net games that much. I think the blog is a good idea but sometimes people forget to check it. P.E. could be better by having a choice of which sport to play. I will take another gym class.

1. I liked doing max workouts not only because it involved my name, but i got to see how much weight i could use for a certain lift.
2. I liked doing metcons the least in the class because it would make me smell and sweat in my next classes.
3. I liked using the blog because it was easy to use and i gained some information.
4. I would make the showers available to students so that i dont stink for the rest of the day
5. Not in high school because I need to focus on more academic classes for college

during this class, what i liked most was the various sports we were able to play and the freedom for socializing. What i didn't like about the class was the smelly locker rooms that were kept unguarded. The usage of the blog made it easier to do homework assignments rather than writing everything out. To make p.e. even better, i would let the students choose what sports they wanted to play. I probably will take another physical education class again.

Gym class was just so fun and enjoyable! I liked to play the various sports and games in the curriculum. As for what I liked least gym class, well, playing in cold weather isn't exactly the best thing ever. It was bearable though. I think the blog is a good idea for homework; it is easy to do and it demonstrates whether we are paying attention in class or not. One thing that could change is giving students the option of choosing what sport they want to do. I will probably not take another PE class, seeing as I have a stronger interest in the arts. Overall, I had a great time!

I liked the amount of sports we got to play and for how long we got to play them. I didn't like how we did not get to play Dodge ball. I thought the blog was a good idea because it added us some extra points, it was easy, and it still made us think a little bit. I would change it so that we could play basketball more often. Yes I will be taking physical education again.

1. I liked how chill the class was. It was a lot more laid back than PE was in middle school.

2. I least enjoyed the fitness testing. I felt that those days were wasted. Nobody really takes the tests seriously, therefore they are not an accurate gage of our fitness levels.

3. I think the blog is a useful tool to complete homework assignments. It is eco-friendly and eliminates the excuse that you "lost the assignment."

4. I would eliminate the fitness testing.

5. I will try to take PE again if I can fit it in my schedule

I like the intensity in my weight training class, especially matcon, cindy, and other endurance workout. I do not think the time for my muscle recovery is enough after intense workout, I hope the time can be managed adequately in the future. The blog is a good way for us to learn more knowledge, such as supplements, rests, etc. I guess PE department can create some physical activities on teamwork in order to make PE better. And I will definitely take PE again, no doubt.

I liked many different types of work outs. The one thing that I didn't like is music. There's been always the same music during the class. I actually do not like the blog because I sometimes forgets it. I personally like current physical education. So I will take gym again.

1. I loved playing different kinds of sports so we could get a variety of them, exercise and have fun.
2. I didn't like that we spent too much time inside so I do hope that the class would spend more time outside especially when the weather is good. Because all our other classes are inside so its nice to get some fresh air.
3. The use of blogs is nice because it's very convenient.
4. I hope that the kids can decide what sports to do and what not because most of the sports we did in class are fun but few weren't so if we could pick then P.E. would be more fun.
5. I will try to take P.E. again because it was really fun and I became more fit.
-Victoria Xu

I think the best part about P.E. was the amount of sports we got to play. Alot of poeple did not take the fitness testing serious, though. I think blogs were a good idea but I think they should make up a smaller portion of you grade. If I had to change one thing about P.E. I would try to seperate the class further by skill level and fitness. This way poeple would be more motivated to perticapate competitively. Nothing against P.E. clases, but I will probably not take another P.E. clase next year because there just isn't room in my schedule.

i liked how everyone was motivated during wrkouts and would help eatchother outwhen theres a need. (kinda like teamwrk)

i liked least about the class is
the music people played in class. It didn't make us pumped out

the use of the blog in class wasn't very convinent due to the fact that no one told me and i had to ask otherstudents and someparts to it was confusting. And it made delays for my grade.
MR. k -PLEASE CHECK MY BLOG I WAS MISING EARLIER AND I DID IT THX

i would change to make my experience in physical education better is to ease up on the wrkouts because some people just ate a big meal after 6th period.

yesi will take a physical education class again with either Mr. L or you Mr. K because the other teachers r sitarounds. And i enjoyed your teaching.

I liked that we did a lot of fun things and we had a lot of free time at the end. What I liked least is that sometimes we couldn't pick our own teams. I think the blog was annoying because since it was electronic I would almost always forget how to do it, but I like this better than tests and quizzes in gym. I wouldn't really change anything because I thought this semester was fun, maybe if we didn't have to change everyday I'd like it better. I'm taking one next semester? haha.

Coach Kirk,
I really liked working out in your class and i know me and yi always wanted to impress you. Also i really enjoyed the dance parties during 3rd period as well.
I really didn't like the Cindys and other long time period intense nonstop workouts. I liked the strenght days much better but i know the cross-fit days were important too.
I think the blog kept students on track and kept us working and thinking for an actually grade. It didn't let us over look the class and take it for an easy A.
I would change, maybe just for my class, the strictness from the teachers on somedays. On days before games and matches i liked it when teachers were relaxed in the weightroom. But i wished early on in the week the teacher would crack down alittle better and force me to become a better athelete.
Yes, i will take a physical eductaion class again becuase i need an all year round workout scheduele to keep me competitive for sports.

1. First, what I liked about this class is that we didn't have to care much about grade. We just played a game of sport and that was it. That made us enjoy the class very much.
2. The thing I liked least about this class is that we we only learned too little skill. I wanted games to be little more challenging.
3.The blog werer very convinient to use and I really liked it alot.
4.In order to make my experience in P.E. better, I would encourage activities that will bring classmates closer together.
5. I would probably not take P.E. class during high school year, but I might take it in university for fun.

1. I liked that we were able to play so many different sports throughout the semester. I also thought it was great that you were so patient with us and all our talking. (Even though you didn't have to be.) I think many of us are thankful you are such a leniant teacher as well.

2. I didn't like that we were being graded, but that can't be helped. (:

3. I liked the blog much better than written tests I have done for gym in the past. I also appreciated your reminders.

4. I would have really liked to learn more about a persons health instead of just having a free period to run around in. (although it was a nice break from the academic classes)

5. I may just stick to my sports teams for wootton and club teams, but if i was going to take gym again i would be sure to take a more concentrated course.

1. I really liked actually playing the sport at times, getting into teams, shouting out our team names, and just hanging out. Gym class is a pretty loose period at times, and I liked that in the morning.

2. I disliked sweating at times...

3. It was really useful, and it helped me learn about getting fit and the sports we played.

4. I would change the way we did the one week of sports and then the tournaments at the end. I liked. at the end, when we played sports for a longer period of time.

5. I don't think so.

I liked that we got to play many different sports/games and that we got to do many different workouts. I guess I don't like the metcons so much but I think they're necessary also. The blog is ok I guess. It helps us by giving some information regarding health. I would think that we should be able to play even more sports still. I would take a P.E. class again if I needed a class to take a break from all of the academic work again.

1. I liked the strength building days. 5x5s and such.

2. The Metcons. I always wanted to do them all out but sometimes realized it wouldn't be best considering I have a practice that is essentially a very long metcon.

3. It offered a depth to gym that I'm not used to. Then again, I hadn't taken gym in 4 years before this year.

4. Longer period for gym?

5. Yes, next semester. As for in college, it will depend where I end up. I will definitely continue to lift regardless.

2. Doing fitness testing
3. I think the blog was an effective way of making sure people knew what was going on in class. However it was sometimes hard to know when they were due.
4. I would increase the time spent on gaga -- the most fun game of the semester.
5. Ill probably take it in junior or senior year when i have completed all the academic requirements.

----Subhradeep Datta----

1. I liked the sports we played, especially soccer, badminton and hockey (and gaga, though it wasn't a net game) :3 I liked that we didn't have to choose teams, so we got to play with other people and make friends!
2. I didn't like how we had to go outside when it was so cold! The milerun was least joyful for me, and so was the pacer.
3. I thought that it was a very interesting way of grading the students. I also liked that the questions were easy =] I have never done something like this before.
4. I would have to play sports more, and outside of school (which I will when spring comes). Taking different PE classes would give you a variety of sports.
5. I will the second semester and probably not the next year since I need only one credit of PE.

Thank you Mr.Kirk for such a wonderful time in second period class! It was really fun!

what i liked the most was the max workouts, because it showed how strong one part of your body is depending on the lift. i also liked the strength building excercises because i got a lot stronger in only a few months, and even without doing isolation work, it still raised my weight on my isolation lifts. what i liked least were the metcons, mby if they were once every 2 weeks or something like that, i would enjoy them more. i thought the blog was a great way to learn different things on how to make not only our lifting better, but how to be healthier. i would change the metcons to once every 2 weeks. if i can fit in with academics, then i will, but the stuff i learned in the class will help me be a better lifter outside of school.

2. Some days it felt like we spent so much time not doing anything that we didn't really get to play much.

I liked playing all the sports in teams. i disliked the blogs. it was hard to keep track of it over such a long time. if you made it less often and made it an overnight assignment it would be easier. P.E. would be better if we got to choose the sports we played. some sports went over well because everyone liked it but some didn't. if you ask us in the beginning what we want to play then you might have more participation. i will probably take gym again senior year.

1. I enjoyed how much we had fun. I think I speak for all Frosties when I say that playing badminton with Johnny Stopher beats running miles on end with Mrs.Reisch. I also loved how we discovered new talents in different sports most of us had never played before.

2. I did not like how short the time span was on the Track and Field unit. I think it should have been longer. Track and Field is a legitimate sport and it incorporates the skills of most other sports. Not only running, but throwing and jumping too. (INDOOR TRACK IS NOT A JOKE only for those who choose to make it a joke)...but outdoor is better.

3.I liked the blog better compared to the written tests I had to take in Middle school.

1. What I liked most about the class was the variety of sports we got to play and the fact that we had plenty of social time so the class was enjoyable.
2. What I liked least about the class was that the girls did not get big lockers to put our backpacks in. I agree with Helena that it is not fair that girls have to leave their backpacks out but the boys get big lockers. Also, I didn't like being told we would be inside for a week and then
we would actually be outside so we were unprepared for the cold weather.
3. The blog did make doing the homework easy, but it was easier to forget about than if we were given an actual sheet of paper.
4.I would let the students choose which sports they want to play.
5. I will be taking yoga the 2nd semester.

1. I liked the patience you had and the time you took to help everyone out.

2. I did not like that we kept changing sports consistently before we could rely learn and get used to those sports.

3. I thought the blog was fun sometimes while other tyimes i thoguht odf it as an annouyance.

4. The consistent changing of sports before we can get a feel for those sports.

5. Ye I think i will take P.E. next year if i habe some space in my schedual

I like all kinds of sports we have played. The locker room was unsecured. The blog is convenient for me. Hmm... everything are good enough for me. Yes

1. What I liked about the class is that it was fun, useful, and a good learning experience. It was fun being in you class, listening to music, seeing everyone accomplish their goals. It was useful as I became stronger in useful ways and It saved me time from having to go to the gym outside of school. Also I really liked most of the workouts and the scheudle. They fit together nicely and got the most out of our 45 minutes. I also learned about the importance of proper form, how to use proper form, new lifts, and the importance of nutrition.
2. What I liked least about the class is that I was sweaty and tired the rest of the day. Also it wasn't long enough. Besides that it was great
3. One thing the blog helped me do is learn the importance of good form and nutrition. I was able to get more out of my workouts in class and in the future
4. Not much can be improved, maybe just going outside a little more when it's nice out
5.yea. I'm going to tale weight training next semester and would take it next year if I had room in my scheudle
