What we do in the weight room is only a third of what you need to do to reap the benefits of your training. Proper nutrition and proper rest are just as important. This week we are going to focus on proper post workout nutrition.
Research has proven that for about 30-60 minutes post workout, your muscle tissue displays more insulin receptors in the membrane than at any other time, meaning you can eat more glucose and protein as the uptake will be better than at any other time. If you miss this window of opportunity you will not get it back and you will not have the muscle tissue glycogen reserves as fueled up during your recovery period as you could have. The end result is a lesser performance next workout.
If you were able to digest all of that, for this weeks blog write what you think would be a good post workout meal and why. There is no right or wrong answer, I just want to find out where you are in your thinking.

I guess you should eat some meat, something kind of high in calorie, and maybe a fruit.

How about some salmon for the protien. Some milk for the vitamines, some carrots and mash patatoes and some pumpkin pie. All are filled with essentials to get your body goin again.

A good post workout meal would be anything you had on hand, like a protein, or meal replacement bar, and if you could get an actual meal, you should get a turkey or chicken sandwich and banana to refuel. Turkey and chicken are good because they have plenty of protein, and are low in fat.

Post-workout you should have something high in protein to boost the muscle regrowth, something high in carbs to replenish all of the energy we burned, and something that is medium-high in calories so that our bodies have enough fuel to rebuild the muscle after a workout. You should also drink 8 fl. oz of water to help your body process the protein and get it working in your system faster.
High protein, vitamins, and some calories might be good. But high sugars, sodium, caffeine, or cholesterol might be bad for health. I heard Michael Phelps eat 4000 calrories per day.

since you can and need to take in more glucose and protein I would suppose you should eat a dinner and then rest after an intense workouti.e. Chicken(not fried), rice and lots of vegatables

if you can i would eat a full meal but if not i would eat any type of protein bar, fruit, and some water to keep you hydrated. also something moderatly high in calories would not be a bad idea

After a work out you should eat something with meat and carbs, an example would be chicken with vegtables or chicken with rice. you should also have water with your meal to hydrate you - Max Ambrosino
Fishes and meats can help you gain protein. At least five glasses of milk per day can help your body gain vitamin. Vegetables are also important for the recovery or the growth of your body.
A good workout meal would probably include some sort of protein and also some fruit. You could have a power bar as well.

i guess you should eat food that is high in carbohydrates and proteins so that your body gets back lost energy and just enough to build muscles from the protein added.maybe a banana, some Chinese chicken no KFC because its cooked using peanut oil which is healthy, some potatoes etc and lots of water to keep the body hydrated.

Fish (definitely salmon, 'cause of the Omega-3 oils), juice (cranberry?), fruit (especially a banana), milk, and LOTS of water.
