Period 7 Volleyball Why Skills?

Our first real day of volleyball was yesterday and I thought it went well. I hope it was obvious to you that individual skills in volleyball are important to make the game more enjoyable. I want you to evaluate yourself and your abilities. For your blog this week, let me know what skill in particular you need work on and what you plan on doing to improve that skill.

Hey Mr Kirk!
The fundemental skill i need to work is working and talking as a team. In order to play volleyball, you must have court awareness.
P.S. (I turned my last blog in on time, and edline still says there is an incomplete... whats up wit that?)

Well I really don't have any skills when it comes to volleyball, so I need to work on all of them in gym class. I should probably be able to bump it at least just to get it out of my way and pass it on to someone else to hit it over the net.

I need to work on my bumping skill in the bump, set, spike routine. I will try to improve this skill by fixing my finger placement so there is a flat surface, and I will try to work on remembering to keep my arms straight out to help with precision and returning serves.

For this week I was really bad on my serve and weak on my bump. I hope to improve my serve and bump during this unit. To improve I will practice a lot during class and (if I have time) try to practice a little at home.

Frankly, i suck at volleyball. And my team hates me for it. So the only thing i can do is suck it up and try harder. Anyways, I'm the worst at spikes which, just a guess here, is because i cant jump high since im short. So hitting spikes will be hard but maybe after lots of practice ill get better.

I think that i need to work on my juming ability in volleyball. I will do this by doing more jumping exercises and drills with myself and others.

I pretty much have no skills in volleyball whatsoever so just being able to return with a bump will be what I want to work on.

I have to practice on sets
and spikes. i am satisfied with my bump, so i will continue to work on my setting skills, and then move on to spikes.

I no longer have my cast so i'll write another post. I need to learn to bump and set the ball correctly to my teammates so they can spike it.

I need to work on my bumps. I will do this by trying to keep my arms flat. Eventually the ball will go straight and then I will work on the power control.
